Your baby is now ready for semi- solid food and should be served a minimum of three meals a day along with snacks and breastfeeds.Don’t forget that breastfeed or formula feed is still very important for your baby to provide essential nutrients in the initial 1st year, so it should be a part of the food chart for 9 months to 1 year old baby.
Also,it is the right time to start finger foods for your baby. Hence it is important to include variety of new flavors and textures to amuse your baby. You should try introducing minced or chopped food as part of 9 months to 1 year old baby’s diet. However, don’t rush as baby is not completely ready for family foods at this stage, but still you can offer some.
Your baby may now become a fussy eater with the introduction of new food so make sure you give the best delicious tasting food.Make mealtime a fun activity where you not only feed your baby but also get a chance to bond with your little one.Storytelling can be the best activity you could engage in rather than indulging into TV and Video’s. It will help to improve your child’s vocabulary too. You can also give a toy to your baby to play around with.

Tips:
1.Breastfeeding still remains an important part of your babies diet and will keep your baby healthy. So feed your baby on demand.
2. Every baby is different and so is the eating habit and quantity of food. Never force feed your baby.
3.Offer small soft feeds as baby is still not used to having different variety of food. New food in big amounts result in constipation in most babies.Don’t panic. However offer enough fluids .
4.You can substitute vegetable soup with clear chicken soup or chicken pulao if you want to offer non-vegetarian food to your baby.Fish fillets properly cleaned and cooked , can be offered too.
5.Offer a variety of foods to your baby to develop taste.
6.Your baby will gain weight gradually. So don’t worry if your baby doesn’t look as ‘chubby’ or ‘fat’ as other babies. If your baby is active and doesn’t fall ill often, then your baby is doing fine.If your are worried, consult your doctor to check whether you are giving the right diet to your baby.
