Motherhood is a journey full of joy, excitement, chaos, mess, laughter, tantrums, sleepless nights, dirty laundry, photo moments and a lot more. I am sure all the mothers out there have been through at least a few of the following ‘You know you are a mom when’ moments. So read up and smile.

You know you are a mom when…..

  1. You have paid for your groceries and are heading out of the door when you realize one of your kids has lost his/her shoe somewhere in the store.
  2. You heave a sigh of relief when your baby falls asleep at night.
  3. You know nursery rhymes by heart.
  4. Your baby’s milestones feel like your achievements.
  5. You are just as surprised when you sleep through the night as when your child does.
  6. You have caught spit-up in your hand.
  7. You have considered trading your whole life saving for just one good night sleep.
  8. You find yourself humming ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ song in the shower.
  9. You have shared long and animated conversations about your baby with your colleagues.
  10. You consider the person who invented the ‘Sippy Cup‘ a genius.
  11. You have your paediatricians phone number on speed dial.
  12. You justify every excessive crying with teething.
  13. You see a mum from your child’s playgroup at the mall and know her son’s name but not hers.
  14. You forgot your mother-in-law’s first name because you now only referred to her as ‘Granny’.
  15. You feel that your child is the best in the world.
  16. You plan your travel locations based on McDonald’s location.
  17. You want to get your ‘me time‘ but start missing your baby soon after.
  18. You feel like you are on a vacation when you get to go out of the house, the first time during your maternity period.
  19. You have signed the check with the crayon.
  20. You need your toddler’s consent to go to the washroom.
  21. You go wild when the phone rings just when your baby has fallen asleep.
  22. You don’t mind wiping other kids noses.
  23. You let your baby sit in his/her dirty diaper until your favourite TV show is over.
  24. Your home is always messy.
  25. You are trying to sneak out of the house, your toddler sees you and starts a tantrum.
  26. You are speaking on the phone while changing a diaper.
  27. You plan your day according to when ‘Peppa Pig’ is on.
  28. Your heart melts when you see anybody else’s child in trouble or pain.
  29. You see your parents in a whole new light.
  30. You consider parenting to be the best job in the world.

  1. You want me time but start missing your baby soon after is something i still relate to. I thought i will soon get over that phase but the missing part is only increasing. All the points are very relatable.. the vacations, the daily routine..everything. keep writing
