At eight months of age, babies can gulp down soft mashed food and can even start chewing more solid foods.Your baby may have got a few teeth by now and her jaws are strong enough to tackle small chunks of food .It’s time to offer nutritious food that improves their chewing skills.By now the baby is ready to have three solid meals. However, the quantity and timing of having food may differ in babies so always go by your baby’s requirements and comfort.At this age,still well-cooked and soft food should be served.Here’s a simple food chart for 8 months old baby-

Tips:

1.To make fruit or vegetable puree , just steam the fruit or vegetable whole and mash it rather than cutting into small pieces and steaming. This will help to retain the nutrients in the fruit or veggie.

2. Every baby is different and so is the eating habit and quantity of food. Never force feed your baby.

3.Offer small soft  feeds as baby is still not used to having different variety of food. New food in big amounts result in constipation in most babies.Don’t panic. However offer enough fluids and introduce only one new food in three days to check whether it is suiting your baby.Go slow. Your baby will gain weight gradually.
