Motherhood is a journey full of joy, excitement, chaos, mess, laughter, tantrums, sleepless nights, dirty laundry, photo moments and a lot more. I am sure all the mothers out there have been through at least a few of the following ‘You know you are a mom when’ moments. So read up and smile.
You know you are a mom when…..
- You have paid for your groceries and are heading out of the door when you realize one of your kids has lost his/her shoe somewhere in the store.
- You heave a sigh of relief when your baby falls asleep at night.
- You know nursery rhymes by heart.
- Your baby’s milestones feel like your achievements.
- You are just as surprised when you sleep through the night as when your child does.
- You have caught spit-up in your hand.
- You have considered trading your whole life saving for just one good night sleep.
- You find yourself humming ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ song in the shower.
- You have shared long and animated conversations about your baby with your colleagues.
- You consider the person who invented the ‘Sippy Cup‘ a genius.
- You have your paediatricians phone number on speed dial.
- You justify every excessive crying with teething.
- You see a mum from your child’s playgroup at the mall and know her son’s name but not hers.
- You forgot your mother-in-law’s first name because you now only referred to her as ‘Granny’.
- You feel that your child is the best in the world.
- You plan your travel locations based on McDonald’s location.
- You want to get your ‘me time‘ but start missing your baby soon after.
- You feel like you are on a vacation when you get to go out of the house, the first time during your maternity period.
- You have signed the check with the crayon.
- You need your toddler’s consent to go to the washroom.
- You go wild when the phone rings just when your baby has fallen asleep.
- You don’t mind wiping other kids noses.
- You let your baby sit in his/her dirty diaper until your favourite TV show is over.
- Your home is always messy.
- You are trying to sneak out of the house, your toddler sees you and starts a tantrum.
- You are speaking on the phone while changing a diaper.
- You plan your day according to when ‘Peppa Pig’ is on.
- Your heart melts when you see anybody else’s child in trouble or pain.
- You see your parents in a whole new light.
- You consider parenting to be the best job in the world.
I am taking my blog to the next level with Blogchatter’s #MyFriendAlexa.
It’s no surprise that like every other mom, I too was nodding along the listicle. Being a mom is hard but the reward with pure love makes it totally worth it!
